about

My path here has been anything but ordinary.

Long before I called it a career, I was developing black-and-white film in a darkroom I'd rigged up in my parents' laundry room. I was twelve. That early obsession with images, with patience and craft and getting something just right, never really left me. I studied cultural anthropology alongside fine art, which taught me to read a brand the way an anthropologist reads a culture, through its rituals, its symbols, and the stories it tells about itself. Photography was what first opened doors, including one to the San Francisco Art Institute, and I followed it to the city in the late '90s without knowing a soul. I founded my design practice in 2001.

In the three decades since, my work has grown from San Francisco's architecture, engineering, and construction community to projects around the globe, and with it, a network of trusted partners I can call on anywhere. It's also brought remarkable people to my table. In recent years alone, we've branded the Maybach family's lake house, strategized for William Randolph Hearst III on the B-25 bomber project, photographed Walter Hood before he was named one of the year's 100 most inspiring people, and today we're shaping a new era for Jack Nicklaus and his family.

Along the way, I bought a house in the mountains, visited more than 40+ countries, lived in Spain and Indonesia, and built a fair trade clothing business abroad, always drawn to the rituals, encounters, and people that reveal how universally connected we are.

my approach

It all comes back to one thing: the instinct to find the story that matters, and the craft to build it into something that lasts.

I bring brands to life through the details that carry meaning, reveal value, and deliver on the promise. I believe in "show, don't tell." The strongest work is precise and intentional. Every element earns its place, and nothing says more than it needs to.

what i do

Driven by strategy and innovation, I bring design, technology, and marketing together under one business-minded approach, so every decision serves the work and the bottom line.

Beautiful, technically sound work is only the starting line. What matters is what it does: how it lifts revenue, deepens engagement, and sharpens how a brand is understood. Throughout, I keep the wider view in focus, your goals, your narrative, your vision, and above all what your customers need, so creativity and strategy pull in the same direction from first conversation to final delivery. I take on a client only when I know I can move the needle for them.

clients

My clients are architects, developers, and planners: legacy-minded leaders who value trust and refined taste, and visionary entrepreneurs seeking the cultural depth that sets their projects apart.

My work meets them there: clear-eyed strategy paired with cultural nuance, balancing heritage with fresh thinking, discipline with imagination, authority with approachability.

core values

What I love most is people. The connection of it, sharing our stories, our ideas, our families, our communities. That's the part that has never felt like work.

I treat every project as if it were my own. Bring me your hardest, most unfamiliar challenges; those are the ones I lean into, and they tend to be where the best work lives. I hold a high bar in everything, seen or unseen, and I give my craft everything I've got until it's just right.

You can also expect honesty and good faith from me at every turn, from the smallest note to the biggest ask. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and give every idea room to breathe. Above all, I take the time to understand what you actually need, and to meet you exactly where you are.

Reach out, tell me what you're dreaming up,
and let's make it real together.
